The Penguin Play Awards 2020 was a party on Club Penguin Rewritten. It was confirmed to be held in issue #154 of the Club Penguin Times. Construction for the party began on April 16, 2020, and the party began on April 23, 2020. The party ended on May 7, 2020.

Like the Penguin Play Awards 2018, this Penguin Play Awards was presented by the Stage Society to honor the best plays held at the Stage.

Nominees[]

On April 22, 2020, five nominees were announced for The Penguin Play Awards 2020 by the Stage Society.^[1]

There were six categories; Best Play, Best Cast, Best Costume, Best Music, Best Set and Best Sound. For each category, players could only nominate one play. However, they could nominate the same play for different categories as well. To nominate, players had to go to the voting booth in the Plaza to cast their vote there.

Winners[]

On April 30, 2020, the results of the vote were announced in issue #156 of the Club Penguin Times. Ruby and the Ruby won four categories, while Fairy Fables and Underwater Adventure won one category each. As the winning play, Ruby and the Ruby returned to the Stage on May 7, 2020. The results could also be viewed at the voting booth in the Plaza.

Trivia[]

According to the staff, there would have been a "slight twist" during this party that would make it different from its 2018 counterpart.^[2]
- Stu later clarified that this was in reference to the Limo and Penguin Play Awards 2020 Interface.^[3]
This was the only Penguin Play Awards in both Club Penguin and Club Penguin Rewritten to not have Quest for the Golden Puffle be a nominee.
- This is most likely due to the play winning the award for Best Play twice in the original Club Penguin and during the Penguin Play Awards 2018.
The Limo from Club Penguin made an appearance at this party.
- Every hour, a different song would play.
Due to a glitch, the music for the Limo at 10 AM PST did not play. Instead, the background engine noise would play repeatedly. This glitch was never fixed.
Due to a glitch, the script for the Secrets of the Bamboo Forest could be read in the Stage during this party. This glitch was never fixed.
It was the last Penguin Play Awards to happen before Club Penguin Rewritten shutdown on April 13, 2022.
It was originally going to have more elements of the Hollywood Party from the original Club Penguin with a night sky.^[4]^[5]
